Education charity SATRO has developed a new road engineering STEM project for primary school children, thanks to funding from Rees Jeffreys Road Fund.
193 school children from 3 primary schools have participated in the programme in the first year. They explored the rural roads in their local area and identified areas where road safety or accessibility could be improved.
The young people weighed up different options to address the challenges they identified, including budget environmental, sustainability and other practical considerations.
68% of the participants said their knowledge of road safety had improved as a result of participating in the project.
