Rees Jeffreys Road Fund was saddened to learn of the death of Professor John Wootton, CBE in July 2025.
John had deep connections with Rees Jeffreys Road Fund, at one time holding the post of Rees Jeffreys Professor of Transport Planning at University of Southampton.
John served as a trustee with Rees Jeffreys Road Fund for 10 years between 2000 and 2010 and additionally sat on the panel deciding MSc Bursary awards.
John’s pioneering professional work undoubtedly led to advances in the application of technology to transport, but his vision and aspirations also positively touched the lives of individual transport professionals.
Two of the current Rees Jeffreys Road Fund trustees both worked for John in the early part of their career in John’s consultancy business Wootton Jeffreys (no relation to Rees Jeffreys), and another current trustee worked with John at the University of Southampton Transportation Research Group, providing each of them with a strong foundation on which to build their future careers.
