Projects taking part in the third round of the Future Transport Visions Group (FTVG) for 2024 have been announced
FTVG is an annual programme funded by the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund as a route for early career professionals to secure funding for mentoring, research and development that addresses today’s transportation challenges.
Five projects have been awarded funding to undertake research in this round.
- Collaboration Of Landowners and Local Authorities in the Building Of Rural Active Travel Infrastructure
- Analysis of vehicle size and collision severity
- The Micro-Mobility Mindset: A study into the behaviours of the UK public towards shared micro-mobility.
- London Luton Airport: Employee insights and AI nudges towards sustainable staff access
- Feasibility of universal charging infrastructure for electric motorcycles in Uganda and UK.
Participants in each team will spend the next three months undertaking their research project, to shape the future of transport. All groups will present their findings at an FTVG Forum in 2024/5 where a winning project will also be selected.
Over 60 people applied to be part of the programme this year. The growth in this years’ programme has been possible thanks to a great new set of volunteers stepping forward to lead the programme.

FTVG is a collaboration programme – both individuals and groups are welcome to submit ideas. Applicants were invited to a series of collaboration workshops to form cross-sector/cross-organisational teams. The initiative is targeted at people in the first ten years of their transport career, and provides a platform for them to develop research and innovation in collaboration with other like-minded professionals.
