This year Rees Jeffreys Road Fund is celebrating 75 years since the creation of the charity.
To mark this milestone, we’ve created a new video to celebrate William Rees Jeffreys and the work of the charity. Click here to see the video.
As part of the celebrations the Trustees visited one of the 75+ fabulous Roadside Rests made possible by the Fund over the years. We wanted to celebrate the charity’s visionary founder, William Rees Jeffreys, who we like to think of as the “Godfather of Roads.”
The very lovely roadside rest at High & Over at Seaford in East Sussex has a plaque that says, “It was the wish of William Rees Jeffreys 1872 to 1954 that others should share his enjoyment of this view.”

The view did not disappoint (thanks to Seaford Town Council who ensured the vegetation is being kept to a level where you can get a glimpse of the beautiful coastline.)
After a enjoying 75th birthday cake (thanks Beth’s Cakery) we headed off down the hill for lunch at the Plough and Harrow who did a great job looking after us all.
We had a grand day out, the weather was very kind, and it was great to have the chance to recognise the achievements of the very special William Rees Jeffreys.
The occasion was also marked by a flypast from Biggin Hill of a G-AIDN Spitfire prototype.
