A new research report has been published examining the challenges facing urban local authorities in regulating the innovation in micromobility, with a focus on dockless bicycle hire.
The report “Urban Local Authorities and the Delivery of Micromobility Strategies – Obstacles to bicycle hire in the UK” is a result of research undertaken by G Dudley, D Banister and T. Schwanen, supported by grant funding from Rees Jeffreys Road Fund.

The report examines the experience of dockless bike operations in two case studies – the city of Oxford and the West Midlands Combined Authority. The research highlights the significant challenges faced when dockless bike operations are implemented, and their limitations in these case studies in being an effective part of a wider integrated transport and micromobility strategy.
