Transport MSc Bursaries

Rees Jeffreys Road Fund’s policy is to make a small number of £10,000 Bursaries available each year for individuals studying for a transport-related MSc.

Universities are invited to submit applications on behalf of potential students in June each year. The application is made by the relevant department providing MSc courses relating to roads, highways and transport. Courses covered by the scheme include study in Engineering, Management and Transport Planning in relation to roads, highways or transport.

Applications are considered by our Trustees in July.

The deadline for universities to make an application to the Fund on behalf of students for the 2026-27 academic year is 5pm Friday 3rd July 2026.  We provide full information and guidance about the application process to universities, but to assist applicants can click here to see an extract of the terms and conditions of our Bursary scheme.

Students and potential students wishing to apply for a Bursary should do so via the following Universities:

In no circumstances will direct applications from students be considered. Students interested in obtaining an MSc Bursary should contact their course tutor for more information.

Rees Jeffreys Road Fund  continues to make a significant contribution to the skills and competence of the transport profession. Based on data collected from connecting on LinkedIn and tracking the careers of people awarded an MSc bursary award for 2017 to 2022 inclusive, more than 60% are still primarily employed in transport  after 5 years. They are working in a range of settings and organisations from public transport to consultancy.

The fund has awarded over 200 MSc bursaries in the last 3 decades alone and is aware of more than 50 individuals supported prior to 2016 who are still undertaking senior roles in transport in an even wider range of organisations.
